In recent years, the Biden administration enacted a controversial humanitarian parole program that offered legal status and two-year work permits to migrants from Venezuela, Haiti, Cuba, and Nicaragua. In total, more than 530,000 people from those countries took advantage of the program and flew directly to the U.S.
