All that to say, Democrats do have the edge when it comes to the House, it would seem, based on the fundamentals, but it is not a dominant lead with 100 days to go.
Yeah, this is where it looks like a true toss-up.
Democrats will need to hold all of their existing seats and then pick up four more if they want the majority.
Their best shot at a pickup comes in North Carolina.
That is where former Democratic Governor Roy Cooper appears to have the edge.
But even if they win there and then hold, again, all of their existing seats in Georgia and New Hampshire, for example, they'll still need to add three more.
And that brings us to the toss-ups, Alaska, Michigan, Ohio, and Maine.
The first three are all states that President Trump won in 2024.
And then you have Maine, which has been a roller coaster for the left this year.
Graham Platner is off the ballot and Republicans are hopeful that saga will help them come November.
As you referenced over the weekend, the state's Democratic Party officially nominated Troy Jackson to replace Platner.
And Jackson certainly doesn't have the personal baggage of Platner.
At least right now, it seems that way.
You never know.
But he is in the same far left vein.
He supports the abolition of ICE, Medicare for all, late term abortion, list goes on.
And polling right now shows him tied with five-term incumbent Susan Collins.
But he's only got 100 days to introduce himself to voters statewide.
That is going to be one of the closest watch races.
So let's start with Democrats.
