We're going to have to wait and hear from their new GM.
I think the Canucks have accepted that they're rebuilding because there's no other option.
they're not going to yeah they're not going to like fundamentally they're not going to and they accept that this is a rebuild i just don't think they're at the point of accepting that it's as dramatic as right i think it must be right like you know and i'll give you an example like for me i still look at this and think chronic de brusque peterson lankanen you know demko's in a different boat because of the durability issues marcus peterson and is there anyone else
That's the three forwards, the two defenders, and the two goalies.
Okay, and let's drop Demko from the list.
I still look at those players and see a bunch of guys who are depreciating assets with contracts that are going to be extraordinarily difficult to move, who are useful NHL players, but by the time that you've rebuilt your core, which is the task at hand over the next five years for this team,
and should be looked at as the only thing that matters, right, to me is like, how do we identify two and a half heart trophy level guys?
That's the only thing that matters now is two and a half heart trophy level guys.
Obviously, you're shooting for more than that.
By the time that those guys are assembled and, because this is important too, old enough to actually help you win, those guys are going to have aged out
of being the useful supporting pieces that they are now more than likely right now, not necessarily, but more than likely.
And so that necessitates to me being really rigid and really disciplined about finding ways to maximize or rebuild their value for the purpose of cashing them in for future assets.
that can help you in your effort to find those two and a half heart trophy level guys.
And also make sure that you're bad enough to continue to have high draft lottery odds, right?
