Canucks are picking third in the NHL entry draft. But you know what? I'm declaring this a no wallowing zone. We've had time to wallow and I get it. I get the emotional reaction. Hey, this is a no.
No conspiracies either.
Chapter 2: Who are the top prospects being discussed for the Canucks' third overall pick?
Yes. This is a no wallowing. Alex the ball. No conspiracy.
Did you see that guy? That guy is so trustworthy. My God. I want to know where they got that guy.
I want to know where they got the custom ping pong ball case.
Yeah, that was sick. I loved that. Also, does it, like, stay in the Ernst & Young vault until next year? Like, do the balls get cleaned? Like, what's the service like?
I don't know.
Alex, the ball tech, the moment I saw that guy's face, I was like, man, I would trust that guy with absolutely any technical task.
Yeah.
So we look on. You saw it happen.
I'm not judging anyone.

Chapter 3: What are the implications of the Maple Leafs winning the draft lottery?
I'm not judging anyone for the emotional reaction. No, no, no. The conspiracy theory. Yes. But the emotional disappointment in the aftermath. Totally understandable. We've had a night to sleep on it. We've had a night to sleep on it. This is a no wallowing zone going forward. We are the Canucks. They got to take it on the chin and now look ahead to what's next. That's my official stance.
A hundred percent. No, no whining, no conspiracy theories. Come on. The third overall is a totally good outcome. It was the most probable outcome. And the Canucks are going to be here again, you know, like, yes, they're going to have another chance at it here again in this process. And at some point you are going to need luck for, for this to work out. But, um, you know, it wasn't last night.
Chapter 4: How might the Canucks approach their GM search after the draft lottery?
So it goes, them's the bricks.
Yeah, as Canucks fans are very, very used to not getting that luck. We got a huge show coming up today. Of course, Jason Buchla is going to join us at 1 o'clock, as he always does on a Wednesday. But right now, our other great guests on a Wednesday. It's time for the crossover. With Don Taylor and Rick Dollywall, they're the co-hosts of Donnie and Dolly on Check TV, Monday to Friday, 10 to noon.
It's brought to you by Passant Motors. Bright deals and better drives ahead at Passant Motors. Hit the road with huge savings going forward. Learn more at PassantMotors.com. Do you guys think there's better drives ahead, better days ahead for the Canucks?
How can there not be? You can go first. Other than last night? Absolutely. It was just devastating. Rick threw his remote control at the screen. My boys both left the room. And it wasn't so much the Canucks losing, like dropping to third.
Chapter 5: What are the potential bold moves the Canucks could consider?
It was the Leafs winning, followed by a division rival going from ninth to second as if San Jose needs more great young players. It was just so Canuck. It was tough.
It's just a kick in the you-know-where for Vancouver fans. They deserve the first pick after what this owner's put them through the last two years and what this owner's put them through the last 15 years since 2011, to be honest with you.
And all they ever do, this fan base, all this fan base ever does, win or lose, shows up, overpays for tickets, fills the barn, and this is what they get last night. You know, 32nd all year, garbage hockey, home record was horrible, had to trade the franchise defenseman. Those guys don't grow on trees. It took them 50 years to get a Quinn Hughes. Then he had to walk.
Because they couldn't build him a winner. All this in the past 12 months, as Donnie said, his tweet said last night. All this that the fans have had to endure. And there you are sitting there. You have dropped to 32nd. You should have got first. And boom. They end up with third. It's just so Canuck. It's just, I don't know, maybe it's karma for this organization for something they did.
Chapter 6: How does Jason Bukala evaluate the prospects like Malhotra and Stenberg?
I have no idea.
Yeah, but you said 12 months or 15 years. I'm going to go back to 1970 and the Carnival Wheel with Gilbert Perrault. It goes back to that. Their first owner goes to jail. You know, three cup finals, two riots. Mike... Messier, Beret leaves, Hughes leaves. Let's go. Thank you very much. My contract sucks. There's so much there.
And I think it just all culminated last night, and Rick's throwing his remote, and my kids are leaving the room. I understand. You know what? I know it's tough to be a Leaf fan, but at least they can say we won a Stanley Cup back in the day with a six-team lead.
Yeah.
Before we move on to the Canucks, so on the Leafs, because I obviously got a ton of people texting me like, oh, my God, I can't believe it's the Leafs. And what I was telling them last night, and I think this is the best coping strategy. At least we get to see how the Leafs screw this up.

Chapter 7: What are the challenges facing the Canucks in their rebuild?
Because let's make no mistake. Like, this is good. I'm not saying like, oh, this is actually bad for the Leafs or anything. It's good for them, obviously. But they're still in a really tough spot. No first round pick in either of the next two drafts now. Austin Matthews, two years left on the deal. They just hired a bizarre front office situation.
Like, there is a high probability here that the Leafs will find a way to screw this up. And I feel bad saying that. as a Gavin McKenna fan for a long time here because I want him to have a successful career. But let's look at it on the bright side, guys. It's not as if the Leafs are all of a sudden on easy street here. They could still absolutely mess this up.
Well, looking at the press conference the day before, I think you might have a point there. The contrast between those two days and where it just looked like they made the absolutely worst decision possible to winning the draft lottery was something else. But looking at that press conference...
Yeah, I look at those three and I go, well, maybe not Matt Sundin, but the other two go, there's a chance they could mess it up. We had Shane Malloy from Hockey Prospects Radio on our show. The best.
Chapter 8: What insights does Jason Bukala provide about the Canucks' draft strategy?
He said that he believes that Ivor Stenberg is more NHL ready than Gavin McKenna, but that McKenna will sell. In Toronto. So maybe they make, I still think McKenna is going to be a pretty good National Hockey League player. Don't get me wrong. But will Stenberg be better? That's the big choice.
But he feels that because McKenna will sell jerseys and product that he's the guy they'll take no matter what.
Well, and you don't think this owner last night, Thomas, you don't think this owner was thinking what Shane Malloy said? You know, McKenna, jerseys, making money. Or McCoy. Or McCoy. What did I call him? Shane. Shane Malloy. Yeah, that's what I said. You did. You almost said McCoy. Sorry. McCoy. What's that show, The McCoys? The McCoys with Walter Brennan. Yeah. Or the band, The Real McCoys.
That goes back to the 60s. The real McCoys. The real McCoys. Or the McCoys would hang on Sloopy. Hang on Sloopy.
The girl dancing. Yes. Sloopy.
The Hatfields and the McCoys. Also another group of famous McCoys. Oh, the Hatfields and the McCoys. We got any other ones? Van McCoy, who did the hustle.
Jermod McCoy, new Saints cornerback.
LaShawn McCoy.
There's another one. LaShawn McCoy.
