It doesn't read right.
It feels like AI.
It's different than the original self-published version.
There's something wrong with this.
And so the publisher dug in, did some analysis and realized, yeah, it was indeed AI generated.
The author, Mia Ballard, says she denied using AI.
She said that it was an acquaintance who she'd engaged to edit the book for publication.
Was the acquaintance named ChatGBT?
That's right.
My friend, ChatGBT.
And she said she's pursuing legal action and that her life has been ruined by this.
And so, yeah, the dog ate my homework.
It wasn't me.
It wasn't my fault.
We're going to be hearing a lot of that because this is where publishing is going.
And unfortunately, Hachette Book Group has, in its terms of use, rules that say no AI, but obviously not all authors are following those rules.
