I look at two things.
I look at their calendar and I look at their bank account.
Because what you spend your time and money on is the most honest reflection of what you value.
Not what you say you value, what you actually value.
So what does your calendar say about you right now?
Does it reflect the clarity you built in January?
Or does it reflect a bunch of commitments that exist because you said yes when you should have said no?
Let me give you a real concrete example of that environment design
in practical life because I lived it.
So when I first started working out in the mornings in my house, in my basement, I kept running into the same wall every morning.
I would wake up and I would spend the first 10 to 15 minutes shuffling around the dark, trying to find my clothes without waking everyone else in the house.
Drawers opening, things falling, me whispering curse words to myself in the dark.
You get the picture.
By the time I had found everything and I was ready to start my workout, half of my motivation was already gone before I even started my workout.
So I made this tiny change.
The night before, I would lay my workout clothes in the bathroom.
And then my workout shoes, I left in the basement right where I do my workout.
I was ready to go.
All I had to do was to wake up, get dressed, get down to my basement, put my shoes on and start working out.
That's it.
