Unfortunately, I'd say I'm not surprised at all.
I feel like weight stigma and talking about weight
is one of those things that's just so deeply rooted and ingrained in the world that we live in.
And I think if you look at other things like, you know, race, gender, sexuality, we've learned that stigmatizing and shaming people for that is not okay.
But with weight, it's one of those things, it's still really normalized that we comment on that and we shame people for that.
So as much as I'm horrified by it, because I'm a huge Seema fan, I'm going to see her tomorrow and I think she's amazing.
I'm not surprised at all because it's happening day in, day out, especially to women.
And like I know the guys on there are talking about the trolls and the very venomous comments, but there's subtle things that happen every day around weight, people commenting on your weight.
expressing their opinions and views on weight.
And it's a really entrenched, ingrained, like horrible thing that people have to experience day in, day out in the world that we live in.
So unfortunately, to me, not surprising.
You know, I think it's a societal thing.
I think we tie weight to worth, first of all.
So with women, it's this idea you have to look a certain way.
And we see that across the board with women, the way they look, their bodies, everything like that, the way they dress, that's all commented on.
And then I think there's this idea of tying weight to health.
And that's the reason why I think it's become a bit more normalized.
Well, we're just saying it because we care about your health.
But we also know from a lot of research that lots of different body sizes can be healthy, right?
