That's the strangest thing about anxiety, right? Like anxiety creeps up on you at weird times. It's those times when you're just literally laying on your couch at home and then all of a sudden you get up and you start checking to see if all the doors are locked, right? Or, you know...

Like, you can be laying on the couch and there's a ceiling fan going and you just start thinking to yourself, what if that ceiling fan, you know, flies off and, like, cuts my head off? Like, it's just the stupidest, strangest things. But when it comes to, like, getting in front of a microphone and talking to millions of people, yes, there's a level of anxiety there.

I have no idea why I'm able to get in front of a microphone and talk to millions of people effortlessly, but I can't be in a party with 50 people without wanting to go home, because I'm already having a panic attack, because I'm thinking about the worst possible scenarios happening.

Oh God, I don't want to deal with him. That is actually another reason I wrote this book. That's why I think small talk sucks because I don't think they understand when you're a person who's already dealing with anxiety and you've had to say prayers and do breathing exercises and put your beads on, right? And all your other things just to show up in the world.

The last thing I want to do is have a meaningless, conversation with a stranger. At least come into my life or come up to me and bring me a conversation of value that may ease whatever it is I got going on.
