Construction began in 1931, and it was the biggest airship ever built.
There had been actually a lot of airships.

This thing was over 800 feet long, which is basically like a small stadium size.

It was partially built using metal salvaged from another hydrogen airship that had already crashed, which is less like recycling and more like tempting fate, I think.
