And the way that Harry and Jack broadcast the games and the players that they had the luxury of talking about
You really did have a Cardinal Nation type broadcast.
And so Joe, understanding that, working in St.
Louis, growing up there, knows the history, knows the passion our fans have, grew up in that environment.
And so we had the idea in the midst of a bad Cardinal season, hey, why don't we have Joe come do a game?
We can have a buck and carry night and just tell stories and show pictures and relive memories and all of that stuff.
First one got rained out.
Of course, it's almost like the two upstairs, at least I hope they're upstairs, didn't want this to happen.
But then we rescheduled it.
And Joe was really nervous, to be honest with you.
But he was excited because he had never done a baseball game in the pitch clock era.
This was the first time he'd ever done it.
And he said, well, what's it like?
I said, dude, you have no time to tell stories.
You have no time really to get into a whole lot of stuff because the next pitch is coming in 20 seconds or 15 seconds.
And he said, you mean to tell me all those four and a half hour, five hour Yankees, Red Sox games would be two and a half to 245?
I said, exactly.
Exactly.
so he sat down he said how do you want to do this here's what i'll do i'll do the lineups i'll do the you know get all the crap out of the way and you just do play by play and i'll be your color guy and that's the way and that's the way it worked out and obviously he was great because he's the best in the business uh but it was like we'd worked together for 20 years it was fun we laughed we told some stories um we showed a whole bunch of goofy pictures of those two and jack and joe and me uh who i
