He's been gone for a long time now.
And he would also say that his success is because he's the sum of the talent of the people around him.
My dad would not want to go into the Hall of Fame without Pete Van Wuren and Ernie Johnson.
Those two were his partners, by and large, in the early days in Atlanta.
And Pete Van Wuren would have said the same thing.
Ernie Johnson would have said the same thing.
It's like Dwayne Kuyper and Mike Krukow.
They're Hall of Fame announcers.
Putting one in without the other makes absolutely no sense.
So that's my soapbox.
So taking my family situation away from it, I wish more guys were being recognized while they were with us.
And that's why I'm so excited that Joe Buck is going in.
I'd like to say it was his cameo on FanDuel Sports Midwest last year that put him over the top and got him into the Hall of Fame this year.
But the fact that Joe's done 23 or 24 World Series, what's the point in waiting so long?
It's nonsensical to me.
We all know he's a Hall of Fame broadcaster.
Now he gets to enjoy that and enjoy it for a long, long time.
And that's, in my humble opinion, the whole purpose of the Hall of Fame.
For the fans, yes.
For the industry, yes.
