uh at one point he must have been kind of with a philly farm club because there was bill barber and guys like that and just uh she'll be you know he played with the montreal junior canadians as an add-on for a memorial cup and gilbert parola and rick martin were on that team so you know it the list of

of guys he played with, and anybody who played with him, anybody who worked with him was a friend and was happy to see him.

I love working with him, but I also especially play-by-play guys who don't like per diem busting.

Cheech was great to be around because the stories were great.

You knew you were going to watch some hockey.

You knew the beer was going to be cold, and the meal wasn't going to price you out of the market because it was usually no utensils, so that meant wings or something.

or hamburgers or whatever.

So it was, he was, he wasn't putting on airs for sure.

In fact, I mean, that's probably the most famous story about Cheech is, and it's not an exaggeration.

I know people won't believe it, but he actually went through an entire playoff run without ever using utensils, which I think has got to be a, it's got to be a Stanley Cup record that will never be broken.

Well, I mean, the standard breakfast was Coke, or I could be wrong if it was Pepsi or Coke, but it was toast and cola, and then lunches would be sandwiches, and then he'd really spring for, you know.

In fact, the last time I texted him was a month ago.

I was in Buffalo, and we were staying kind of further up the road from the rink, and it was close to the Anchor Bar, and that's where...

You know, chicken wings were allegedly invented.

It was kind of the home of chicken wings.

So I went over and I had to send him, you know, a picture of the anchor bar because we had devoted some pretty good quality time in that place over the years in playoffs with the Sabres.
