There's a lot of ex-Melbourne players in the background helping out.

So there's a great love and respect there from the playing group.

Yeah, there was one I remember really early days.

We played, I think it was his first pre-season.

We played one of those pre-season games in Wellington in New Zealand at the Basin Reserve.

And I was fortunate enough to go on the trip.

And Jeff Farmer, I can't remember exactly what Jeff had done, but Neil wasn't too happy with him.

And he just, at halftime, he just looked at,

And he shouted at the top of his voice, screaming, Everybody in the room nearly fell off their chair.

It was like this fearsome roar.

He said his name three times and then never said anything else.

And I was like,

Jeff, pull your finger out, you know.

And so I have to shout on the phone there, Jared.

But I still remember that.

And the boys still talk about it.

I know when they get together, that'll be one of the stories that they talk about all the time.

But everybody cut the spray from him at one stage or other.

I used to worry on Mondays, particularly in those early years, if we'd had a loss.

I didn't really look forward to going to team meetings either and I'd try and sit up in the back of the room so he never looked at me.
