But as I said, he modified over time and it was just his competitive spirit and he was a great and intelligent coach and I learnt so much from him, particularly about the analytical side of the game and how you use vision and what you look for and
all of those sorts of things, because for me, coming from Tassie, uh, using vision, uh, wasn't, that was a fairly foreign thing to do, uh, in your coaching, other than if you've got someone to put together a highlights tape for you for a final.
So, uh, uh, Neil was ahead of his time in that regard and meticulous, uh, is meticulous at, at, at, um,
coding a game.
And back in those days, you didn't do it with a computer program.
You did it with a pen and a pencil and two video recorders and, you know, going back and forth all the way through.
So, yeah, I learned the hard way how to code a game.
That's for sure.
I mean, I think at one stage in his life he was thinking about being a priest, but changed his mind.
So he had a fairly philosophical view of the world and his thoughts on what was happening, which he would talk about on a regular basis.
So it's no surprise to me that he's chosen to go down that pathway and leave a bit of a legacy, I think.
And if anyone's listening to this, if you haven't read any of his books, you should because you learn so much about how to live a good and quality life if you read them and how to deal with all the challenges because everyone's got challenges all the time.
And as he said, it's what you do about them and the choices you make that make all the difference.

When I got up yesterday morning, his most recent book, The Power of Choice, I was looking for my copy of it because we had a bad loss on the weekend and I thought, I need to read that book and get my thinking back straight.
I found it and put it in my bag and little did I know that Jan was going to ring me in the afternoon.
So I had Neil's book in my bag on the day that he passed away.
