I have a lot of surface area for this.
I've tried the focus.
I've tried having a board.
I don't want any of that.
Genuinely, I don't, right?
So if my life with hyper-focused Chris looks like billion-dollar exits, reporting to a board, being chairman of the board, being CEO, sitting in meetings all day, that's miserable, Chris.
And if I don't want to leave a ton of money to my kids anyway, then why am I making Chris miserable so my fourth-grade grandkids can be rich instead of just my second-grade grandkids?
That's genuinely how I look at it.
One of my superpowers is my long-term perspective.
I think of things on an eternal scale.
And if I have to have a miserable life so my kids in year 2300 can still be wealthy, forget that.
I don't...
I don't want them to have all that money anyway, you know?
So I want to live an awesome life where I'm a good and present father.
And to me, that looks like focusing less, not more.
What if you focused for the next 10 years, you made it to a billion dollars on one thing.
And then because you've done that, you can take even more sort of experimental bets on
with higher risk and more enjoyment and more sort of pleasure-centric bets over the next 40, 50, 60 years of the rest of your life.
Yeah.
I just don't think that that juice would be worth the squeeze.
