You know, I think about guys, and I have to go way back into the, like, one of the guys I was just so certain was going to be a super stud was Mikhail Grigorenko.
I'm like, this guy is, he's everything.
He's not a great skater, but he's a genius.
He moves pucks so well.
Like, this guy's going to be amazing.
And he wasn't.
You know, he wasn't really anything at the NHL level.
So, you know, I think that that happens plenty of times over the course of,
of doing this.
And yeah, I mean, those are the guys that like Greg Renko is always the one that jumps first to mind of a guy.
I was just like convinced, you know, the top five guy.
And,
you know, just wasn't for me.
Yeah, I mean, I think that's a great question, because I think that it definitely varies in certain situations.
And I think in Lafreniere's case,
A lot of mitigating factors to his entry into the NHL, the decisions that were made for him developmentally, the way that his draft year was treated was kind of a disaster, too, in terms of just how overprotective everybody was of him.
And I think that definitely it comes down to maturity.
How much do we know if a guy can handle this?
And I think there are a lot of decisions made after the draft that can be wrong, too.
I think Grigorenko is another case similar to Lafreniere where it was like, all right, so he's kind of in this situation where he's too good for the QMJHL, but he's really not ready.
