We got, you know, two really good seasons out of him after 2025.
He's going to hit his mid 30s here.
And we feel pretty comfortable we're not going to chase Cody Bellinger because we feel now the decline is going to come, which is great.
You're paying for what you want to pay for and willing to walk away from a player that now he will probably be in a decline at that point.
Also, let's take worst-case scenario here.
Cody Bellinger is not good.
throughout these first two seasons or has a bad second season and decides he wants to opt in into the rest of that contract.
Well, now the Yankees are on the hook for about $40 million over the last three seasons, which is palatable.
It's palatable when you don't think that you're poor.
And we know the Yankees think that they're poor.
But they're also going to have some other monies coming off the books in those years that maybe it'll be easier for them to go out there and
and sign the players that they need to sign.
So I like the way that the contract is structured.
And like I said, you're paying for Cody Bellinger up front the good years to pair him while Aaron Judge is still in his prime.
And then hopefully you get best case scenario, and then Cody Bellinger opts out, and then you...
goes on his merry way.
Or if he doesn't, you know, it's about $13-ish million a year for the rest of the contract, which, again, it's palatable.
You see the Yankees are letting this $15 million they owe DJ LeMay, you stop them from doing things that they're on the hook for this year.
But hopefully that's not the case, or else it shouldn't be, right?
These are the Yankees.
