It's a cash cow.
It's a constant money machine.
And they don't have to worry.
They shouldn't have to worry about paying Cody Bellinger in years four and five of his contract.
But ultimately, under the Hal Steinbrenner ownership, they probably will be.
Because this is the same Hal Steinbrenner who I heard reported by multiple people at different points in this offseason.
He wasn't getting into a bidding war for Cody Bellinger.
And not that he needed to because nobody was really involved in the bidding for Cody Bellinger, but...
He wasn't getting involved in the bidding war for Cody Bellinger, not because he didn't need to, but because he didn't want to.
Hal Steinbrenner did not want to get into a bidding war for Cody Bellinger because he was still feeling embarrassment over chasing and losing Juan Soto last year, which is a great way to run an organization.
It's a great way to try to build a champion is to let something that happened last year affect the way you're going to build this year's team.
Cody Bellinger is not Juan Soto.
You chased Juan Soto.
But that shouldn't affect how you're going to build this team.
If Cody Bellinger is the guy that you wanted and somebody else wanted him, and you're going to back off because you were scared after what happened last year, that's bitch made right there.
And that's not the guy we need owning and running the New York Yankees.
If somebody put an offer in front of Cody Bellinger that you had to compete with and you were willing to walk away, not because you felt he wasn't worth it, but because you didn't want to get into a bidding war and get embarrassed again, sell the fucking team.
