In the Pyrenees, for example, they've got the beautiful big Pyrenees mountain dogs that protect the livestock.

To me, it's an indicator.

I mean, dogs are fantastic.

We've lots of dogs in the country.

They do a great job and they can be used.

Electric fences can be used.

Making the fences higher is another method that's widely used on the continent.

The problem seems to arise, Clare, in countries where wolves have been absent for a period of time and then they come back and people have to relearn how to live alongside them.

But in the north of Spain, where the wolf has always been present, you know, it's very like Ireland if you've ever been there.

It's green fields.

It's not like the south of Spain where it's dry, where we go on holidays.

The north of Spain is quite like Ireland.

Green fields, lots of sheep, lots of livestock in the fields.

And they farm alongside the wolves quite comfortably.
