We bought open heifers and put bulls on them and sold them as bred heifers.
We bought bred heifers that were short bred and kept them three or four months and roll them up where they go from a three or four on their hip to a six or seven or seven or eight.
Make a couple hundred dollars on them and roll them on down the road.
Calve them out.
We bought some bred cows, some open cows, some pairs.
It really doesn't matter if there's just
If there's an opportunity to upgrade them, whether it's in body condition by feeding them or just putting some days on them or getting them a little further in their pregnancy or just getting their calves a little bigger, there's always ways to roll them up a few hundred dollars a head.
And if you can do that enough times during the year, especially for us, like if we've got good grass, we can overstock and really run more cattle than we really need to have.
And then when the grass starts to get short, well, we sell off, and then we don't have to store up a bunch of hay to feed in the winter and spin your wheels.
And I still have a full-time off-the-farm job.

We build some spec homes.
So that's my full-time job.
