It's not there to make sure that people say nice things.
It means the right to say things that anger or speak truth to those in power.
Weaponizing access and regulation is censorship in disguise.
And when press access
and approvals depend on some sort of editorial sort of niceties to an administration, that is authoritarianism, and that's when we've lost democracy.
And honestly,
Enough is enough.
We need people to be freaking out about what this administration is doing across many levels, but in particular towards journalists.
So I'm deeply, deeply, deeply alarmed about how you have been treated here and how this just seems to be part of a much more troubling pattern that I don't see abating anytime soon.
What do you think it is about you that Megyn Kelly doesn't like, right?
Like, what do you think that is?
And maybe it's tied to, I don't know, remember back, was it 2008, when she was really obsessed with the Black Panthers that were sort of protecting the police outside of Philadelphia?
Turns out to be two guys, and she made it a big, big story.
Or maybe it was what she told me.
She told kids that were watching her Fox News show, not to worry, Santa's really white.
or when she defended going in blackface for Halloween.
There is a pattern here.
She's gone after you repeatedly.
What is she doing?
It's a dog whistle.
