Our story starts in the town of Aurora, Colorado. Located outside of Denver, Colorado, nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Aurora is breathtaking. Courtney and I actually just visited there last month on our anniversary trip, and we can see why people choose to live there.

When you drive through Aurora, there are parts that have a very small town feel, even though there's a population of over 380,000 people. It's a very family-friendly community with a lot of outdoor activities. And being the third largest city in Colorado, Aurora is known for its diversity. Its population has a mix of Native Americans, Asians, African Americans, Hispanics.

But as you may know, the town has had its fair share of tragedies, including the Aurora Theater shooting that took place on July 20, 2012. 24-year-old James Egan Holmes opened fire inside a Century 16 movie theater and brutally murdered 13 people, including an unborn infant. while wounding 70 more.

What we do know is that Joseph Castorena and Jessica Serrano had a long, twisted history together, one filled with love, pain, and betrayal, and they were young.
