Well, here's where the money comes up.
I'll be honest with you, being a street performer, it's not that great to talk about money.
But I tell you what, I thought about this, and I'm going to make an exception for you.
When I first started doing this about nine years ago, over the course of a day, I really wouldn't make that much money.
I would make somewhere between $100 and $150 in a day.
It was just barely enough to pay my rent.
Now that I've really perfected the art of doing this, I rarely make less than $1,000 in a day.
Yeah, so it's a long day, but for most musicians, artists, it's really a pretty good day.
I started to learn more about what people want and what they value in a performance, specifically a piano performance.
There's certain kinds of music and there's certain kinds of musical structures that draw people in and make them really value and appreciate what I do.
So in the beginning, I didn't really understand that and
As I watched people's faces and watched what they reacted to, I learned to say, okay, I should not play this piece, and I'll try a new piece.
Okay, trying this new piece, and this works fabulous.
People are really drawn in.
What is it about this piece that people love so much?
And then I just, from there, weekend after weekend,
I just got better at doing what I do.
A little bit.
