I can remember feeling unprepared and regretting not putting the effort in and having all of those anxieties around, will I get through it or not?

And I mentioned to you before, I wouldn't have been academic around that time in my life.

That came a bit later.

But I can remember going in and the sun was splitting the stones.

It was like one of these, like the weather we had there last week.

It was glorious.

And, you know, trying to...

to focus and and get through that exam was um you know the one thing my mom told me before going in was don't leave early you know something might come to you and to stay it to the very end and in truth i did i think probably with 20 minutes of twiddling my thumbs just waiting for the educator to say we could go but um yeah no um yeah i remember it and my mother is well into her 80s now and right up into recent years she would have had the leaving cert dream she would oftentimes tell us that she still has it you know yeah

Yeah, turned over the paper.

I think my mum always wanted to be a teacher, and that was her thing that she really wanted to do, but she needed to get a really good leaving cert to do it, so she was under pressure.

And one of the papers, she just couldn't make head or tail of what they were asking, or whatever the case may be.

She ended up being a nurse in a very successful one, but...

the turning over the page and not being able to understand the word of what's written and looking around for some sort of inspiration and everyone just writing away and that sort of sense of panic.
