Believe me, we know that from talking to visitors.
We talk about our food exports command a premium.
We can't have meat buyers coming in from across Europe and being met with litter on our streets.
These things matter.
Well, they do.
I mean, there was this very laudable scheme in Killarney where Killarney aimed to be the first disposal, disposable free coffee cup town or whatever you'd say it.
And I mean, I've spoken at length to the people in Killarney and I don't think that project is sustainable.
There's other pockets around the country have copied it.
It's not sustainable in the face of competition from multiples and from chains which don't have a reusable scheme as part of their systems anymore.
Without government backing, it's likely to fail and we're going to be left with this litter on our streets.

It does, but it does need the statutory backing.
We can't have certain coffee retailers being able to bypass that system.
