In 2015, I remember when that was being splashed across the newspapers, he had just broken into the Aston Villa senior team and was still in Ireland under HR at this point.
And the hue of that conversation was, is this a cautionary tale where he never quite cracks it and just fades away because of his lifestyle?
Whereas he managed to override that, became a hundred million pound player, brilliant player, fundamental cog in that treble winning Man City team.
And then Pep, yeah, as you said, ultimately concluded, juice isn't worth the squeeze with him.
Yeah, I definitely am in that camp because they haven't even given a venue or a date.
And even the notion that it's going to be on Netflix is being queried because Joshua has an exclusive rights deal with DAZN.
So I saw a poster.
It was like, Q4, Joshua furiously.
Q4 is a LinkedIn post.
yeah this would put you on the map a little bit it does feel uh three four or five years too late though doesn't it like all great boxing matches why is that about i know i'm like yeah yeah i'll watch it but i won't be as pumped as i would have been a few years ago like it depends what you want from it it's no longer a referendum on who the best heavyweight in the world is which it was at one point that's what i want with the exception of deontay wilder but it's still like the build-up will be good there'll be good documentaries around it there's enough stock footage of the two of them going at it like you'll be into it by the time it comes to
round no I will but the fever pitch of oh my god it's a referendum on who's the best yeah but now it's like the heavyweight championship of the rest of the world because neither of them have any belts and they've both been comprehensively beaten by Usyk twice each yeah so that yeah that's not are they both way past their best to your eye
Fury, less so maybe.
But then I think the Deontay Wilder fights, which we discussed in the Daniel Tynan podcast, took a lot out of him, which probably wasn't immediately apparent.
So that was...
That was the first fight and he was still out of shape really for that fight and boxed brilliantly and then got caught at the very end and rose to salvage a draw in round 12.
But then comprehensively knocked out Wilder in the second fight and then beat him again in the third fight.
But they were wars.
And he went to the well and probably hasn't been the same since.
And then Joshua demonstrably has been knocked out a few times now.
Daniel Dubois did a real number on him.
