I was very lucky because the people that I was generally selling to, not to generalize, but the people who were at home during the day overwhelmingly were women who I had been selling to in Peter Mark, obviously, and servicing there.
So same demographic, different conversation.
Same demographic, different conversation.
But obviously, the same kind of skills that you learned in Peter Mark around conversing and around listening, especially, really lended themselves to the role.
so i did that for a couple of months and done really well like very quickly i was kind of hopping out leaderboards and that kind of stuff um
And that business is actually ran by an Irish guy and his wife, a lady called Lisa Fenellis, who looking back on it was definitely one of the people who changed my life completely.
She had just been hired as a regional marketing director for a BI company called Click.
They were so business intelligence.
So it was kind of at the time where people were taking Excel.
being able to upload it into dashboards, essentially, and to be able to visualize their data and be able to make informed business decisions outside of a spreadsheet.
Tableau would be another pretty big BI company.
And she obviously was the first hire from a marketing perspective, and she needed to create a business development function.
Big problem that they had in that company was that they were brilliant at converting deals, terrible at getting them.
So Lisa came to me.
I essentially, I think we were at a barbecue in her house and she had said that she heard I was really good, really talented.
I was probably a little bit raw and you needed some kind of shaping up.
But she had this role available and she thought I'd be good for it.
Would I be interested?
And I just jumped at it.
It was in North Sydney.
