quite productive because predominantly i think all the swimming i've done in schools is in a pool so if you were to roll out a program that's educating on open water swimming in secondary schools maybe that might be a positive addition is to then upgrade that then to open water and the skills associated with open water swimming
Yeah.
Yeah, especially if the skills have been built on, I mean, you can't start from like square one in the open water, but the skills have been built
like up towards sixth class, why not carry them on through secondary school or maybe PE or something like that.
Yeah, definitely.
It's a valuable skill that probably anybody should know because a cardiac event or an instance when CPR might be valuable, you never know when you need it.
So having people train, like a defibrillator is a relatively simplistic machine to use.
I mean, they're designed to be easy enough to use, but can be overwhelming in the heat of the moment.
So kind of having that, everyone being trained in the sense of not panicking, how to operate a defibrillator,
Predominantly the weir.
Sometimes out in Thomastown, Greignamanna.
Greignamanna was quite a busy spot with families and Inistig as well.
And the meadows.
In the water, kind of lifeguarding kind of conditions you to maybe dislike the warm weather because on calmer days it tends to be a calm day and then the warmer weather people tend to get a bit more boisterous.

And you advise people against it, but I suppose that's where the nature of open water lifeguarding differs to pool lifeguarding.
In the pool, you have a duty of care, and you have a lot more ability to stop that behavior.
Whereas with open water and beaches and that, I mean, you kind of only have a duty to advise.
So you can advise someone of the dangers, but it's definitely difficult when you tell someone...
Mrs Dunn, did you actually try to close the door in my face?
