So everybody's dogs have gotten really good at layering these obstacles.
So the handler's here, the dog is here, the obstacle's here, and they don't take it.
And inevitably, you know that all a judge has to do to challenge people is to then say, well, now I'm going to set something up that looks like you want the dog to layer it, but actually I want the dog to take it.
And so you have to have ways of being able to prepare and account for that.
Like I want my dogs to be good at
this layering skill yeah yeah yeah but i also know it's only a matter of time as soon as everybody gets good at it then the a smart judge is going to start designing the opposite and so you have to be flexible enough and your dog has to be a flexible enough learner to change those things they're just they can they can really evolve the sport any sport or they can keep it kind of flat lined depending how how they
I was a judge for a few years for one of the big organizations.
I don't know how judges and course designers do it.
It's a very labor intensive process to design courses.
It takes a lot of time because you have to make sure that the courses adhere to the rules of the organization and you have to design for the space that they're going to be set up in.
and then uh judging itself is pretty labor intensive um so i yeah i don't do it anymore it was just it was just a lot but i really it really gives me more respect for those judges that are out there doing it and especially for um for a judge that's gonna be judging the world championships or the european open or a big competition they get very busy
They get asked to judge all over the world.
Everybody wants to see as much of their work as they can to prepare.
So it's, I, I don't envy that.
It's probably a very cool experience, but a lot of work.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So some of the, I have to say some of the jumping that I see for, um, I think it's Mondia where they have to jump, lay down and then jump again is kind of hard for me to watch because they, the dogs look like deer when they jump because they're taking off so close to the jump and the jump is so high.
So typically what I want to see is that the dog's jumping arc is centered over the bar.
So if they're jumping in extension, that means that their takeoff point is pretty far away from the jump and their landing point is equally far away.
