There's still an awful lot of luck involved in penalties.
You can hit the best penalty in the world and if the goalkeeper guesses right and he's got a large wingspan, he can get his fingertips on it.
You can be too precise and try and put it in the top corner.
There's a lot of variables in play in a situation like that.
But I would always go with the guy that really wants to take one.
The guy who steps forward, chin up, chest out and says, I'm taking a penalty.
He's obviously in the mind frame that he wants to do it.
So I would be inclined to let those guys go ahead and do it.
But as I said, there's too many variables.
You can talk about it.
You can kind of replicate it as much as you want, but you will never replicate the actual feeling, you know?
There's no blame attached, really, you know, unless you try a panenka, you know, and you really start taking the piss.
You know, if a guy misses a penalty and even if he misses the target, like, you're a human being and there's a lot attached to it.
So I don't believe players should feel pressure
In terms of like, geez, if I miss this, I'm going to be lambasted.
You know, I mean, all some of the England penalty takers after 1990 and even 1996, Southgate and Pearce might've got a little bit of unwarranted grief, but there's nobody in this country is going to like, you know.
Libra senior I was going for.
Exactly.
Exactly that.
Yeah.
