If you're looking at a government with two parties that is really worried about getting one out of three, that can't see itself getting two out of four, and is wondering, you know, could it even get two out of five?
Are we going to have six seat constituencies?
on the basis that it's the more likely option to get one each or even one at all.
We had much larger constituencies.
One for everyone in the audience.
We had much larger constituencies up to the 1940s.
I'm not saying it's a good idea, but it would be legal.
I think it would be a very bad combination of both.
The hyperlocalism is not going to go away because you have a six seat constituency.
You have a 10 seat local authority areas.
So the hyperlocalism is culturally embedded and you're going to overlay that with something that is going to be less capable of having a solid centre, unified, purposeful government.
Perhaps the Galway West candidate has a future.
I don't know the man and I take Gillian's recommendation of him.
And I'm sure he's a very good guy.
