You just grew up in an area that didn't feel like that.
What happened the first time you start performing these things and you can start to make a room full of people in Adelaide lose their minds over you?
You felt like Geppetto at some point pulling these things and everyone was bumping up and down to the moments that you planned.
How is this a real thing?
I don't understand.
You guys like the same thing I like.
Oh, goodness.
This is going to be a good old time up here for the next hour and change.
We found our home up there on stage big time.
We loved performing with each other.
The crowd was a bonus.
Us three up there having fun was paramount.
I think that energy fed
everywhere i was i came out of a scene in canberra music scene in canberra where everyone is desperate to make their own fun everyone's got a million things to say they're kind of really excited about what's happening in the music world elsewhere in the world but all our stuff that came out sounds you know a bit you know it's all done on a four track somewhere or something and it does sound pretty tinny what i'm hearing with your stuff is it's so beautifully produced is that you or is the guys from the hilltop hoods how are you getting that rich powerful production
We were very, very fortunate to be surrounded by people who knew what to do, you know, and especially Barry.
Debris is a savant and that guy is the reason why a lot of people sound like they do and sound like themselves even, you know.
Barry gave me the ability to find my voice and be able to go, okay, that's what I sound like as a producer.
And listening back to it now, do you recognise that as something that absolutely...
shows how it felt to be a teenager in the outer burbs of Adelaide in that period.
Yeah, very much.
