She's a very pragmatic person.
So when she tries to do something, she researches, she understands the mechanisms that need to be associated with something to get it working.
When she made that decision to give it a go, she started reading different ways to do that.
And a lot of them was basically, you know, don't have it around often as well.
Just basic, simple things and try and break these associative mechanisms like rewarding yourself for a hard day's work or something like that.
And she worked hard to do it and she did it.
And I thought the only way I could support her was not having it around.
Like that was it.
Not having it in the fridge is going to be big enough thing that I could do.
And maybe I'll just go out and get drunk and just not tell her about it or something.
Or like come home and not talk about it.
I was never trying to do it in a deceitful way, but like I'm not going to tell her how much of a great time I'm having doing the things that she's trying not to do here.
And then it became a week and then it became two weeks, three weeks, four weeks, there was no alcohol in the house.
And then four months, five months, and now five years.
It's not a distant memory because every single day I think about it.
That's why I like talking about it.
It'd be disingenuous of me to say I kicked it and I don't think about it every day, especially before I go on stage.
The idea of that little three beer release to get that bit of
just that tiny bit of disconnection where you can hit flow state immediately.
You dream of that moment when you're sober and you know that there's a cheat code to get to it.
