And that doesn't really benefit anyone.
It hurts the owners, it hurts the players.
But at the same time, they both kind of have this incentive to push as far as they can to try to get the best deal.

MLB loves to throw out some of these strange proposals.
They proposed that arbitration salaries be determined by fan graph stats, which, of course, went over pretty poorly with the players that they should have.
We kind of thought that was weird.
It's like, don't get us involved.
Yeah, we'd never be able to take over the formula if we cost people millions of dollars or kind of get us.
I don't know where they're going to be.
