You know, spending five minutes, ten minutes, a half hour every day paying full attention to your breath and when your mind wanders off, pulling it back.
That's a basic workout of the brain in paying attention.
And the more you do it, the stronger that circuitry gets and the easier it gets to do that.
So I'm an advocate of attention training.
I think, by the way, it should be part of the curriculum for school.
I think kids need to learn how to pay attention in order to learn.
Right.
And the whole mission of schools is to help kids learn.
So why don't we teach them the basic abilities that will help them do exactly that?
That's a great metaphor.
I hope you're right, Simon.
I really do.
I don't know if we'll feel that way or we'll be totally inundated by it in 20 years.
But it may be that we'll realize, that we'll wake up and realize, oh, that was pretty toxic, like smoking.
And that maybe it's not so good for us or for our kids.
I hope so.
And I think, by the way, the scientific data definitely points that way.
