Secondarily, it's a rarity show when the Blue Jays score five runs to see them lose a ballgame.

And that's what we had happen here tonight.

They put up a six spot in this ballgame, rallied from a 5-0 deficit, and yet come out on the losing end.

It's just the second time that they have lost a ballgame this season when scoring five runs or more.

And when they did that a year ago,

They were among the best teams in baseball.

So it feels like a missed opportunity because the majority of our conversations surrounding this team through the first couple of weeks has been about the offense and how it has sputtered at various moments and points in the season.

Tonight, that wasn't the case, and that's where, you know, for now, what is it, the second time in the last three starts, Max Scherzer gives you a real clunker, and it puts you in a bit of a predicament as far as the starting pitching is concerned because the bullpen did their part tonight, but the Jays couldn't overcome that 5-0 deficit early on in this ballgame.

I mean, you can't help but feel for him.

He was just heating up.

You kind of alluded to it.

Show over the last seven games, including the at bat tonight where he leads off the bottom half of the first inning with a double for the Jays.

He was 11 for his last 21 with four extra base hits, literally just turning the corner and starting to look like the Nathan Lucas that became a staple in this lineup last year and was a huge part of the Jays.

going on their terrific run and having their kind of swan i'm not swan song a song of a season but this miraculous season in 2025 lucas was a huge piece of that and it's just it just feels like with this team right now when it rains of course you know today we got positive injury updates regarding springer some of the pitchers and then you're like okay
