She went and played a tournament, got like MVP and the top goal scorer.
I said, how was it?

I so loved it, you know.

And I think that's the lesson for me.
I guess I just put the pressure on myself.
So I'm like, well, I don't want to be the dad that does that.
And we have good conversations about that, her and I, about what do you want to be.
And she knows.
I want to be the best doctor.
And hockey's just fun.
That's my community.
Surf's my community.
That's my summer break.
I love that.
I can be a lifeguard on the beach, and I love that.
And yeah, I guess that were the lessons for me.
What the All Black job gave me was for the first time I was sitting at the pinnacle and I was close to being what I thought I could be.
Like I never made it in hockey, you know, and that bugged me because two of the guys that were picked with me as 16-year-olds both played more than 250 times for New Zealand.
