Yeah, I dodged one that day, honestly.
I think I've always believed in the human spirit and that there's good in everyone.
Not only do I think about my dad right now, but I'm thinking of people like Zach Guilford and the trials that that kid went through and how no matter what, a couple of times I publicly backed him in front of New Zealand's media with him sitting beside me.
And then the next week something else happened.
But I never gave up on him.
In the end, he moved and we moved and his life continued.
But I always felt that, you know, I just felt that was...
who I was, and I think that came from Dad.
Most humble man I've probably ever met.
I remember Dad was a teacher all his life, and he stopped teaching, did some work in education for a while, and then he landed a job at a winery in Hawke's Bay as a gardener.
Greenfinger loved it.
And he's got his golf cart, and he's driving around the winery and doing his work, and he came home one Christmas with a box of wine.
I said, oh, why did you get that, Dad?
He goes, oh, it was just, you know, they loved me there and they gave me that.
And he said, you know, my whole career, I've never had anything.
He was so excited, you know, by it.
