In the straight horror sense, yes.
But other than that, they're completely different movies.
The thing is not funny.
It's not comical.
It's just foreboding dread and suspense the entire way through.
But both equally bleak-ass endings.
Right.
I mean, it's not a spoiler.
These movies are 40 fucking years old.
The thing, pretty sure you're left off with everybody dying at the end of the thing.
And Return of the Living Dead, everybody gets hit by a nuclear artillery strike in Louisville, Kentucky.
They all fucking die, too.
You know, honestly, I take it almost kind of like the movie Inception.
Depends on when I watch it.
Do you know Inception?
Whatever.
That's fine.
But my point being is each time I watch it, I have a different opinion.
Sometimes I watch it like, yeah, Kurt Russell, McCready and Childs, they both died.
Other times I'm like, I wonder if they survived.
