Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?
I tell you what, prices are getting high, but a fella still gotta get his guns and ammo. We go hunting for all them good deals online every day. Go to pew.deals, that's P-E-W dot D-E-A-L-S, in your internet. Now back to your podcast. Deal bro, deal bro, saving you money, don't you know.
Welcome to the Live Fire Media Show, episode number 29. It's a show, or a podcast. Just two guys hanging out, talking trash, guns, gear, movies, and more. Your hosts tonight are the always entertaining and sometimes fud Hunter Elliott of rangehot.com. Woo! I was waiting for that. I'm Quokka47, a.k.a. Dave from High Point, or as Hunter refers to me, Iron Man, and not the Marvel one.
We're also joined this evening by my son, Mason, for at least a few. So, kick back and Yeah, here we go. What's up, buddy?
Happy Halloween, my friend.
Right? I mean, we're pretty much on it. Today's Wednesday. It'll be here Friday.
Well, we won't have another podcast until then, right? Yeah, it'll be after. So next week, which will be in November already, which is scary enough. Right.
So you're running out. This is my Halloween motif. Describe it. Where are you sitting at now? It's a little bit different.
I'm in my dungeon.
Where's your dungeon?

Chapter 2: What Halloween-themed shooting event do they talk about?
Dive in the rest of it. So in the second stage, I had a good bit of movement built through it, and I had a full forge bag just full of shotgun shells. I literally just said, it's the MacGuffin. You got to carry the MacGuffin with you everywhere you go. What's the purpose of it? I don't know. You're trying to escape the station with some of the shit you need, so you just got to carry the bag.
So I had you start back a little bit. You had to run up to a certain point. You could drop the bag and shoot, but when you moved, you had to have it. And I put three or four working Joes kind of going from a tight 90 to your left all the way out to, I don't know, your one o'clock, but you had to kind of lean around a wall.
After that, you could holster it up, grab your rifle, and Xenos were in that same position. You could shoot Xenos. And then you had to grab the bag and move with the bag and run around the corridors. The rest of it was Xenomorphs that you had to blast through. And dude, you would shoot these things in from a meter or a yard to further shots. Once you ran through, it was probably 20. Yeah.
20, maybe a few less.
Yeah. So 20 yards-ish was like the longest shit. But For non-experienced shooters, 20 yards at a clay pigeon size. That's rough. That's kind of rough. I mean, you did all right. He had some good mag changes. He looked professional. He knew what he was doing. He moved really well. He got some good stills with his finger. Nice and straight on the trigger. What did you run?
What were your guns you ran? What were your handguns?
I ran an XDM 9mm.
And then I ran a... That's your granddaddy's gun, right?
Yeah. And then I ran a... High point AR pistol.

Chapter 3: How did they modify their shooting targets for the event?
I keep my shot shell stuff in it. He keeps stealing it, so he's got 20 gauge in there.
I only stole it once.
Oh, just once? Yeah. Oh, okay. I guess he didn't use it this weekend. Did you run a play carrier this weekend? No. Okay, I couldn't remember if you did. No, I ran the carriers. Well, I ran that bandolier. Or my invert bandolier. Yeah, no. Okay. I was trying to get him to run his Halloween costume, too. I made him a Helldiver outfit.
I 3D printed.
Well, it would have been bulky. That's the thing, man. You run around like this shooting, it's easy. As soon as you put armor on, it makes it kind of a pain. Exactly. It makes it harder. When you got armor on, it's a whole other thing. You're like, wait a minute. My usual feel is this. Now this feels awkward as all get out. Yeah, it's kind of a pain. That's kind of the point.
You shot with Hunter with armor on much? Say that again, please. Have you shot with armor on much?
No.
Uh, I shot a lot in the Marine Corps with a flak jacket and, uh, but fortunately we had an A2 without a collapse from a buttstock. So that made it way worse.
Right. Right.

Chapter 4: What firearms are discussed for bear defense?
How about this?
I want it both ways. I want what you do for fun and what you do for training.
Be competitive. If I wanted to be competitive, which, you know, I would probably, I got a CZ P zero one tactical. That'd be solid. That it got a threaded barrel and is full of Cajun gun works parts.
Yeah. That's good stuff.
Now that, that, that pistol is, It's... Oh, my God. When I run it, I feel like I'm cheating, truthfully. Which you would think I would do better. Probably that, and then for a carbine, I would run a little 7.5-inch Barnes Precision machine.
I kind of had a feeling you were going to say that.
And then for a shotgun, to be competitive, I would probably run... either an 1100 in 20-gauge or a 1300 speed pump Winchester in 12.
I didn't expect you to say 1100 at all. I thought you'd go all pump.
Well, that 1100, man, a 20-gauge 1100 is, I mean, it's such a flat shooter. No, I get that. It would be, I think, competitive. Now, if I was just having fun, if you call me up and you're like, we're going to shoot this match and all we're doing is we're having fun. Yeah. Then, truthfully, man, I would run probably my Dan Wesson Specialist 45 Auto. Yeah. Marlin Trapper in 45-70. Nice.

Chapter 5: What are the best guns for bear defense?
That's very cool.
Don't beat your fucking nice gun. Here's what you do, Dave.
Dude, the reality is if I was really going to bear country, I'd probably just buy something new for that as an excuse to buy something new.
And if I was posed that question, Hunter, you're going to go in fucking bear country. And my first question would be, what bear country? Black bear? Brown bear? Fucking polar bear? You know, what are we talking about?
Chapter 6: How do revolvers compare to semi-automatics in reliability?
You know, I'm going to carry my pocket knife. No, I'm kidding. Black bear will fuck you up. But a brown bear or a fucking Kodiak. Kodiak, yeah.
Chapter 7: What are the key takeaways from the recent live fire class?
You know, they will fucking... When they're done eating you, they get on your phone, and they find out where your relatives live, and they go to their fucking house, and they're going to eat six to eight of your relatives. I'm going to tell you this. My bias is going to show, and my thud is going to hang out, and I'm okay with that.
I would probably run a Colt Kodiak with a four and a quarter inch barrel in .44 Magnum. And I was stoked that motherfucker with the hottest shit I could find.
Yeah. I appreciate the feeling you're going to say that one, you know, because I honestly don't care. Like it's revolvers still. Revolvers don't immediately equal FUD, in my opinion. They really don't. And they shouldn't. It falls into your mentality of what you think revolver like going on. Revolvers never jam. Bullshit. I've had plenty of fucking revolvers jam.
Here's the thing I tell people. If you're semi-automatic, it has a fucking malfunction or misfeed. Worst case scenario, strip the mag out, rack, rack, rack, new mag, and get on with it. You could clear that malfunction with your dick beaters.
Yeah. You can do it, and you can do it fast, too.
If you're a revolver, now, it is less likely to malfunction. True. However, when it does, you're getting the tool bag out.
It's called New York reload. You're fucked. Yeah.
Yeah. Any kind of immediate action, remedial action on a revolver misfit, best thing you can do is just drop that motherfucker where you stand and go to something else. Yep.
Yep. So like you said, there's me fuds here. Listen, we'll have enough of an audience, but they'll go, right. Bullshit revolvers never fail.

Chapter 8: Which horror movies are recommended for Halloween?
The fuck they don't. I've had plenty failing me from multiple brands too.
So the only manufacturer that I know of for 100% fact that could build a revolver that never fails regardless would be is if Jesus Christ himself got an 07 and started manufacturing revolvers. And he said, this revolver never fell. Shall not fail, yeah. Shall not fail. Right. Shall not fail. I would believe that. And I'm not being blasphemous. I'm being honest because I know Jesus is perfect.
But if it's made by a human being.
And that dipshittery people won't let shit die. Yeah.
Well, it's the same premises. And we did a little shotgun defensive class not too long ago. We had some new guys there. And I was the assistant instructor. Okay. So we had a primary instructor who was teaching the class. My role was to help people that were struggling and keep an eye on everybody to make sure everybody was being safe. Right. And that sort of thing.
So if one person was really struggling, they would pull them out of the lineup. They're like, Hunter, work with him for a few minutes. So we didn't slow the class down.
Right.
It was a three-hour live fire class, but it had an hour classroom time. It was pretty basic. Semi-automatic versus auto-loader. Dumb shit. Semi-automatic, auto-loader, same-same versus pump. We would go over... you really, when it comes to a self-defense shotgun, you've got two options. You've got an auto loader, some automatic auto loader, which is fine or a pump. Yeah.
Anything other than that break action, fucking bold action. No, just a lever action shotgun. I wouldn't, but then, but here comes the, uh, The regurgitating the shit that won't die. Well, you know, you don't have to aim a shotgun.
