It's in the middle of summer.
It's like, you know, 10 kilometre walk just so she could get a job.
She was in a children's home looking after, you know, orphan children.
And it was...
It was great because back then when we were kids, it was school holidays.
You know, mum and dad could take kids to work.
So I quite often went to the children's home and hung out with the kids, did the laundry with mum, cleaned, you know, did anything to keep myself busy while I was there.
But I guess it's a different thing when you're meeting kids and you've got your mum with you and they don't have any mum and they don't have any dad.
The conversations are, even for a kid, they're a lot different.
And then you realise how lucky you are because you do have a mum and a dad and ones that love you and look after you.
So I guess that's why, you know, mum and dad mean so much to me.
Yeah, they are.
It's been a big step and one that, you know, I appreciate so much.
We've had a great life here in Australia and so did mum and dad.
You know, we've had a great life and a great family life.
Because we've got no relatives here, we became, you know, a very tight family unit looking after each other all the time.
But on many occasions, now that we've got our own children and we've got our own grandkids and, you know, dad said the other night, he said, how did I become so lucky to end up with this crew?
Yeah, it's like every day is just a new high.
Number one, obviously, surviving.
