I came back at 29 and I kind of was real lost.
I was like, all my mates had got married.
They had houses and full-time jobs.
And I was just like, man, what, you know, I can't lifeguard for the rest of my life.
And I can't like,
I've got to get something behind me.
And I was going down for a surf one day, bumped into my mate, and he was telling me about this paramedic degree.
And he said to me, oh, you know, with this, I do two days on.
He was just come out of the degree and he was actually working on the road.
And I was like, oh, what's the deal with that?
I didn't even know what a paramedic was.
And he was like, well, you do two day shifts, two night shifts, and you have four days off.
And he was telling me a little bit about the job.
And in my head, I was just going, man, four days off, I can go surfing.
Because I enrolled the next day, did a three-year degree.
came out onto the road.
And in that job, I wanted to be an intensive care paramedic, which is really as high as you can get.
Nowadays, it's like taking the recess room from the hospital out into the pre-hospital environment.
