Because otherwise the painting's just changed too much.
What progress you've made within the painting, if you just then changed it into the summer, you'd lose what good parts were in it.
May and June in Wales are just the best, but it's the same, I think.
Coming through from spring into mid-high summer is just uplifting.
But I like also, I mean, I like that we have seasons.
And there's nothing more exciting than when you have snowfall, that silence that snow brings to you.
So it's all of those things of being out, standing in the land for hours, being still.
And you're painting and you're observing and you're reacting.
And you're making decisions about what holds truth and what stays and what changes.
So that's the way I like to paint is by observing and then reacting to it.
