We're talking about building assets down in Kilmeaden, which will have hundreds of millions of euro of positive impact to the Exchequer over time, which is going to create housing and is going to create these lasting economic impacts in that area, and is also going to facilitate our long-term transition to a more renewables-based grid.
So we are part of the solution around renewables and we have to have investment cases to do that.
Otherwise, these assets are not going to be built.
Well, look, Joe, we're an Irish-founded, Irish-headquartered company.
We're creating Irish jobs.
We're investing in Irish assets.
And we've brought a lot of inward investment into the country.
But you face a fair amount of objections, I say.
Absolutely, we have.
And we've worked with local communities.
We've worked with local politicians.
We've worked with all of the policy makers in our area.
to try to come up with innovative solutions, particularly around power.
But I think it's incredibly important for us as a country if we want to continue to have our competitive advantage and take advantage of this phenomenal investment wave in data centers and in AI, which is going to power the economy tomorrow.
that we have a policy framework which is stable and which is clear.
That policy framework can address national goals around grid infrastructure.
It can address national goals around renewables and energy mix, but it also needs to have a commercial viability.
So today we are still waiting on the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities Large Energy User Policy.
It's critical that we see that come out in a timely manner so that Ireland understands
can keep its advantages around technology and the technology sector that have been built up over decades, Joe.
