I've been a fan since the 84 Lumber days.

As a former 84 Lumber employee myself, I appreciate your perspective on different topics.

I reached out because I'm in a bit of a tough spot.

27-year-old male, me and my wife live in Houston, Texas, where we spent our first child, baby girl, in early July.

Issue is I recently lost my remote financing job, a remote finance job of three years based in North Carolina.

I was permitted to work remotely from North Carolina, but after we moved to Texas in June 2025, I was let go in late November due to quote-unquote layoffs.

Since then, I've been trying to find stable work as a CSR data entry clerk.

I've even applied to Walmart and other local businesses, but nothing came through.

Currently doing a data annotation on around $15, $16 an hour.

When time is available, which is not enough to support us, my wife also took a pay cut recently.

Goddamn this economy.
