Well and truly.
And as I said, they didn't have telephones or anything like that.
I wrote several letters over the course of those few months and I eventually received a letter from his mum that I needed to get translated.
And it was thanking us for everything that we had done for him.
We'd sent home things, you know, presents for his mum and his dad as well, who was a policeman.
And she was thanking us for all of those that we treated him like he was our own son.
And then we lost complete contact.
There was no word after that.

A car accident happened in front of me.
It was around the corner from my home.
And so, yes, I stopped to help.
You can't avoid that.
You can't drive past.
And the policeman that turned up on scene happened to be another family foster member.
And I hadn't seen him in many, many years.
And his first reaction was, Deb, like, what are you doing here?
And I said, I've stopped to help.
And out of the blue, he says to me, have you ever spoken to Yuri?
