The president announced he was going to add 500 more National Guard troops, like you said, to D.C.

This happened shortly after the attack on Guard members earlier this week.

That plan appears to remain in place.

Those 500 new Guard members were

will join about the 2,000 Guard members who are already in the city.

And there is a new development, though, from the weekend, which is that the government has also declared that every group of National Guard members patrolling Washington, D.C., will also be accompanied by at least one D.C.

police officer.

The two turkeys, Waddle and Gobble, were spared a future of being eaten.

At a ceremony in the Rose Garden, President Trump said the turkeys weighed about 50 pounds each.

The president says he won't meet with Putin or Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky until a peace deal is in its final stages.

Trump was supposed to meet with Putin last month in Hungary, but the meeting was scrapped with Trump announcing new sanctions on Russia.

The ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia has been a point of frustration for Trump, who claims he's ended several other wars this year.

He repeatedly says the war between Ukraine and Russia should have been easier to end.
