Several strong Democratic candidate recruits are also providing a boost for the party in places like North Carolina, Ohio, and Alaska, which have all trended red in recent years.

Republicans maintain they will retain control, even if narrowly, and they're on offense too in states like Michigan, Georgia, and New Hampshire.
