I think the thing about Dubas is, if he said before, I'm not even going to consider it unless it made sense, what's he going to do now, Kyle, in a situation where this guy just had a great season?
And he played pretty well in the playoffs.
There were a lot of guys there who didn't play great.
He was not one of them.
So I don't think his price is necessarily going to get lower.
On July 1st, it's a $6 million signing bonus.
He's only due $1.5 million in cash after that for the full season.
There is no way after holding on to him for all these years, Dubas is suddenly going to say, oh, I feel pressure to trade Eric Carlson.
You're going to have to make him, A, the player's going to have to want it, and B, you're going to have to make Dubas want it.
Like this whole situation in Pittsburgh, and this kind of goes back to Malkin too,
Because of who they have there, this isn't going to be like other rebuilds.
They're not trading these guys, especially guys like Crosby, after a season like they've just had.
But I think Dubas will be committed to getting younger and trying to make some of the same good bets he made this year.
