That's all being worked out on being rehearsed on Thursday as the table reads are going on.
As a writer, you might be having to leave the rewrite table to go down to the studio, Studio 8H, where your piece is being locked out so you can do that.
All these processes are happening simultaneously.
Is everyone having fun at this point?
No, no.
I think that it can be, it's a lot of fun to be had.
I mean, in blocking things out in the rehearsals, people are trying stuff out and, and yeah, so it's, it can be a fun process, but, but fatigue is also, I think, a fact that we,
in the week so um you know the law of the writing the long writing night that you've just been through you know it does start catching up with you but you're and there's also a lot of adrenaline going so and you of course you want your piece to do well so you're putting everything obviously you're putting up everything you've got into it so what what points could it be cut like because there's obviously
after the an hour before the show right yeah sketches get cut yeah after the full dress rehearsal on saturday night live there is then lauren and the head writers and the host for that week will meet the uh in lauren's office uh uh on um
That's like right after the dress rehearsal ends, which is, which is a 10 o'clock.
So they will, and that's where they will make the cuts of like, okay, let's, let's lose, you know, sketch, uh, you know, a and B, uh, let's definitely keep this one and so on.
So once that's all determined, everyone is then called into, uh, Lauren, he has an office on the ninth floor, uh, in addition to his office on the 17th floor where the
where the pitch meeting was, but now we're in production mode.
So we're, we meet in Lauren's office on the ninth floor and on the wall are cards, index cards that show what sketches are in and what order they will be on in the show.
And then off to the side are the cards with the sketches that got cut, whatever pieces.
At the table read on Wednesday, sometimes there would be a piece that would
not get selected to be on the show, but you could salvage something from it.
Like, I don't know if you ever saw Bill Hader's character, Stefan.
Yeah, the fashionista.
He knows where all the best clubs are.
